Beginning its 5th season, SKI X-C FAST is an exciting outdoor physical activity program developed by the National Capital District to promote the thrill, excitement and speed of cross-country skiing to the grades 5 to 12 students within the National Capital Region. The primary goal of the program is to ensure that the participants understand that outdoor winter activities are fun, safe, accessible and affordable. The program uses X-C skiing ‘Sport For Life¹ as its teaching tool.
Snowshoe FAST is the sister program of SKI X-C FAST. This program provides the same outdoor winter fun to students in grades 2 to 5. Snowshoes are this program’s teaching tool.
The SKI XC FAST and Snowshoe FAST programs provide students and teachers with:
- All the required equipment (waxed skis, boots, poles or snowshoes) to have a successful session.
- Instruction from trained and experienced instructors.
- Compliance with all OPHEA guidelines.
- What is unique to both programs is that instruction can take place at the participating school!
Please see attached files (at the bottom of this page) for more information for both the program (File: SFpromo10_11.pdf) and for interested schools (Schoolpromo11.pdf).
